Dynamic query is an import concept in
information visualization. It stems from the development of the HomeFinder. It facilitates rapid exploration of information
by real-time visual display of both the query formulation and results. Dynamap, a generalized map-based information visualization
tool, is one of the applications applying dynamic query through DQ slider without
histogram. The problem with the slider is that user may get wrong perception in
some degree on not uniformly distributed data. There are two alternatives to
address the mentioned problem. One is the DQ slider with histogram. The other
is the dynamic histogram with brushing and linking feature. Both are dynamic
query widgets. The objective of this project is implementation of the two
widgets and comparing them by doing a formative user test in terms of success
rate, performance time, and user satisfaction.
